THE NEW BEE DANCE
Utopistic theater piece about total democracy

Our performance is based on the famous scene of Béla Tarr’s Werkmeister Harmonies, when Valuska explains the process of total solar eclipse. People in the local pub are asked by Valuska to take the role of the sun, the earth and the moon, and to embody the choreography of our solar system, to dance in interdependent circles. In our interpretation Valuska becomes a beekeeper and he tells the story of the “bee dance” the communicating method of honeybees. We hear the music of Mihály Vígh and while the bees are dancing in a shape of 8, the queen bee lays eggs in the background. But suddenly something strange happens: The queen stops laying more eggs, but she starts to give crowns to her workers. And the workers are repeating the gesture: giving crowns to the audience until the state of total democracy sets up.

Utópikus színdarab a teljes/totális demokráciáról

Az előadás Werkmeister harmóniák c. Tarr Béla film híres jelenetének parafrázisa, melyben Valuska a kocsmában emberek táncra hívásával állítja fel a teljes napfogyatkozás modelljét. Színdarabunkban Valuska szerepét egy méhész kapja, aki a méhek információátadó testmozgásáról, a “méhek táncáról” mesél. Vígh Mihály zenéje szól és méhecskék táncolnak nyolcas alakban, miközben a háttérben a tojásait lerakó méhkirálynő alakja jelenik meg. Ám hirtelen furcsa dolog történik: a királynő nem rak több tojást, hanem koronákat vesz elő, melyeket a dolgozók fejére tesz, amit azok tovább osztogatnak a közönség köreiben, mígnem beáll a teljes demokrácia.
